In what was an intriguing contest between the two sides, Kolkata Knight Riders cruised to 183 run chase as their batsmen completely outplayed the weak Rising Pune Supergiant bowling lineup. With this win, Kolkata Knight Riders came back to the top of the points table.
Earlier in the day, it was captain Gautam Gambhir who won the toss as Kolkata Knight Riders elected to field first. Darren Bravo and Piyush Chawla replaced Surya Kumar Yadav and Nathan Coulter-Nile who was rested. On the other hand, RPS brought in Faf Du Plessis in place of Ben Stokes.
The Pune openers began well as they compiled 65 runs for the first wicket partnership. Ajinkya Rahane again failed to accelerate gears as he was dismissed for 46(41). On the other hand, Rahul Tripathi scored a quickfire 38(23).
MS Dhoni provided with entertaining innings as he hit two maximums in his cameo of 23(11). However, it was Captain Steve Smith who stole the limelight with a brilliant half-century. His stay till the end alongside Daniel Christian ensured Pune had 182 runs to defend. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/31.
Kolkata Knight Riders were once again off to a rollicking start as Sunil Narine played his natural game. However, his stay at the crease didn’t last long as he was dismissed. The RPS bowlers managed to apply some pressure on the KKR batsmen before Robin Uthappa decided to break free.
Facing 47 balls, Uthappa smashed a staggering 87 runs with 7 boundaries and 6 sixes. Captain Gautam Gambhir also provided ample support with a splendid fifty. While both got out, in the end, there was a little job left for the other batsmen as Darren Bravo finished things in style with a boundary. Robin Uthappa was deservingly rewarded the man of the match.
The Rising Pune Super Giant bowling was horrible, to say the least. From their prime bowler Imran Tahir to their best Indian bowler Shardul Thakur, everyone was taken to the cleaners. Only Daniel Christian managed to put up a bold face.

A lesson for the #IPL teams, If you are going to play against KKR, make it sure you don't drop Robin Uthappa. Trust me Its a Crime!#RPSvKKR

Gambhir and Uthappa, both have been brilliant throughout the IPL but unfortunately, can't get in the Indian team. Selection EVM is hacked.

'Catches with matches' is cliche…but it's also the truth. #RPS have dropped both Uthappa and Gambhir. Might have dropped the match too!

Rahane is out after scoring 46 runs in 41 balls at 6.73 runs per over.
That's 7 overs of the teams innings at less than 7 runs per over.

Wicket Time. Who will it be? I'm tilting towards #Rahane #RPSvKKR
— Aakash Chopra (@cricketaakash) April 26, 2017
Thinking about the @DMBravo46 selection. Won't be surprised if he's used to open the innings given presence of Narine no longer a mystery

Hope Steve Smith bats through and gets a good score. Getting out of silly shots in last few games after looking good #IPL
