Twitter Reactions:- KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya exchange jerseys after the match

Mumbai Indians managed to stay alive in the tournament with a victory over Kings XI Punjab at home. They managed to oversee the KL Rahul threat as Jasprit Bumrah managed to get him in the penultimate over. The hosts who had the final laugh as they managed to clinch it by just 3 runs.

Batting first, Mumbai Indians were off to a good start. However, they seemed to be losing way in the middle. That’s when the Kieron Pollard show followed up. Both him and Krunal Pandya put up a partnership of 65 runs from just 36 balls. Mumbai Indians posted a total of 186/8 in their quota of 20 overs.

As for Kings XI Punjab, Chris Gayle got out early after looking adventurous. However, it was the KL Rahul show as he slammed a magnificent 94 runs from just 60 balls. He threatened to take away the game from the hosts before Jasprit Bumrah stepped up to get the big man.

After the game, there was a heartening moment. Both KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya exchanged their respective jerseys. While Pandya donned the Punjab jersey, Rahul wore the Mumbai colours. The trend has often been followed in football and it was good to see the same in cricket as well.

The fans were extremely pleased with their gesture. Everyone lauded their sportsmanship. Both the players have been Indian teammates. They determined that at the end of it, it was a game and both continue to be great friends. While some also took this opportunity to make some jokes, others appreciated the trend.

It’s quite interesting to note that after the 2014 IPL final, Kolkata Knight Riders owner Shah Rukh Khan had done a similar gesture. After Punjab lost the finale, he donned the Kings XI jersey as a gesture for his friend and owner of the Punjab franchise Preity Zinta. SRK’s sportsmanship was appreciated back then.
