Twitter Reactions: Mitchell Marsh sizzles as Caribbeans gasp for breath in a high-scoring encounter

Mitchell Marsh continued his rich vein of form in T20Is, as his 75 runs and three wickets gave Australia their first victory of the series in the fourth T20I by four runs. The all-rounder was fantastic with the bat in the first innings as he dispatched the home team’s bowling attack to all parts of the ground in St Lucia. 

Later with the ball in hand, Australia skipper Aaron Finch trusted Marsh to come good and he took key wickets of Lendl Simmons, Chris Gayle, and Nicholas Pooran. In the end, Andre Russell tried his level best to keep West Indies in the hunt, but Mitchell Starc bowled an impressive last over and gave away just six runs, to help Australia win the match.

Apart from Marsh, Finch contributed with the bat and scored 53 to give Australia’s middle-order batters a chance to go for the kill. But West Indies came roaring back in the final 10 overs of the innings and picked 77 runs for five wickets.

It was the Marsh show all the way for Men in Yellow. In this particular year, he has registered some big scores for his side. Clearly, the hard-hitting all-rounder has upped his game and has shown to the world his immense potential with the bat. He has been rock solid for Australia at number three and has anchored the innings, as well as given nightmares to the opposition with his attacking skills.

Openers give WI a flying start; Russell fails to finish

The West Indies opening batters Lendl Simmons and Evin Lewis gave a flying start, as they formed a 62-run opening stand before Adam Zampa provided with the first breakthrough sending the latter for 31. Simmons continued to score runs but kept losing wickets at the other end, which derailed the run-chase for Caribbeans. Andre Russell was on the receiving end for not taking a single in the final over when 10 runs were needed.

With a win under their belt, Australia has momentum with them, when they take on West Indies in the final T20I of the five-match series on Friday, 16 July. However, Caribbeans know how to bounce back in such scenarios.
