Mumbai Indians started the game off on a positive note; they won the toss and opted to bowl seeking a friend in dew during the second innings. Looking for a win to get off the mark Mumbai made quite a few changes to their side. Malinga coming in, Harbhajan Coming in and Rayadu obviously injured made way for Krunal to retain his place.

Kolkata got off to a flyer with Lynn and Gambhir looking in total control until Krunal Pandya got rid of Gambhir and Uthappa within a span of three deliveries that hit the flow of Kolkata a bit but Lynn was looking strong at the other end hitting boundaries like a cold-blooded assassin.

Twenty runs later Chris Lynn was trapped in front by Bumrah as he was forced back to the pavilion by the Indian speedster. Gambhir made 19 while Lynn made a nice 32 as both the heroes of last game were back in the hut without doing real damage.

However, the assassin of the bowlers was going to be someone different tonight, he came in the name of Manish Pandey as he took the game to the opposition. Playing most of the deliveries of the remaining innings of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Manish single handedly took them to a defendable score.

Mumbai Indians had to chase a modest yet tricky 179 in some slippery conditions out there. The Indians got off to a better start as both their openers saw the team past fifty run mark only to lose three quick wickets. This saw the game shift gears drastically as boundaries became rare and the singles were the major source of getting closer to the target.

Krunal Pandya also walked back and so did the dangerous Kieron Pollard who is yet to arrive at this year’s Indian Premier League. Nitish Rana, however, was taking the innings forward for the men in blue as Hardik Pandya joined with 60 to get from 24 deliveries. A steep task but dew was on their side as it was getting harder to grip the ball each time it went into the outfield.

The next fifteen balls were belted by Nitish and Hardik as they added 41 runs to get the total down to 19 of 9 balls. Nitish then squeezed a full-length delivery right into the hands of backward point as the game again swung in balance. Hardik Pandya was having none of it as he brought down the total to 11 of the last over.

A misfield by Surya Kumar Yadav, the stand-in captain of the second delivery of the last over meant that the chase was stuck at five runs from four deliveries. Pandya then held his nerve to finish the game off. With only six wins in the last seven visits to Wankhede, KKR lost a game which they were certainly winning.

The Twitter world went absolutely berserk as Mumbai Indians won a thriller of a game against a tough opposition. Let us have a look at some of the best tweets.
