The Pakistan cricketers secured an impressive 2-0 triumph against the Scots.

Shoaib Malik starred with the bat for Pakistan as the Asian giants helped themselves to a thumping victory over Scotland. While the scoreline certainly does not add much to the tale, it is quite clear that the Pakistani players had to fight for their victory, something that did not come easily, especially given the fact that Kyle Coetzer‘s men recently came away with an impressive win over Eoin Morgan’s England.
Having won the toss, Sarfraz Ahmed chose to bat first despite the overhead conditions being rather overcast in Edinburgh.Β It was a rather chilly and gloomy day and the ball was beginning to offer some swing for the pacers. Needless to say, Mohammad Amir would have enjoyed bowling on the surface.
The openers Fakhar Zaman and Ahmed Shehzad got off to a fine start and added 60 runs for the opening stand. However, following the loss of their wickets Hussain Talat and skipper Sarfraz Ahmed did little to bring the innings together. However, it was Shoaib Malik, the veteran of the shortest format of the game who impressed with his innings of 49. While his innings did indeed help weigh the anchor, his innings consisted of five sixes, something that ensured that Pakistan would finish the innings on a high.
Chasing 167 against a Pakistani bowling attack was always going to be an uphill task. Things were not helped when the top order fell away. Following the close of the mandatory powerplay, the Scots were tottering at 4/37. Calum MacLeod, who would eventually bat until the end of the innings, and Richard Berrington eventually helped steady the ship to an extent before the likes of Usman Khan and Faheem Ashraf ripped through the rest of the batting unit.
Thus, Pakistan completed an impressive 84-run victory over their opponents, thereby clinching the series. The Twitterati erupted, as always following Sarfraz Ahmed‘s men’s victory.

Scotland steamrolled by Pakistan, all out for 82. Ashraf strikes twice in the 15th. The whole tenor of the match shifted in the final two overs of the Pakistan innings with Shoaib Malik's flourish. Coetzer starved of strike early in chase, they were never in it in the 2nd half.
