The stage was all set for the most important clash of the IPL 2018. The iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai was packed to the capacity as the Chennai Super Kings took on the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the finals of the season. It was a fitting showdown between the two top sides of the competition. At the half way stage in the game, the Super Kings would know that they have probably conceded a few extra runs after an excellent start with the ball.
Having said that, the match is still even stevens. The Sunrisers Hyderabad boasts of a strong bowling lineup, arguably the best in the season. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings will take pride in the fact that they have the beaten the Sunrisers Hyderabad thrice in the season. In the match, CSK won the toss and opted to field first. The Men in Yellow drafted in Karn Sharma at the expense of Harbhajan Singh. Meanwhile, the Orange Army brought in Sandeep Sharma and Sreevats Goswami for Khaleel Ahmed and Wriddhiman Saha.
The Sunrisers did not get a good start in the game. They lost Sreevats Goswami on 5 after a MS Dhoni-Karn Sharma collaboration saw Goswami fall short of his crease. The batting mainstays of the SRH camp, Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson, then joined hands to bail the side out of trouble. The senior players added 51 runs for the second wicket.
While Dhawan struggled for his 25-ball 26, Williamson went on to scored 47 off 36 balls. Ravindra Jadeja accounted for the wicket of Dhawan and it was Karn Sharma who got Williamson stumped soon after. Shakib Al Hasan chipped in with a crucial 23 and Deepak Hooda failed to get going yet again. The actual impetus to the innings and the final flourish was given by Carlos Brathwaite and Yusuf Pathan.
Yusuf Pathan remained unbeaten on 45 off just 25 deliveries with four fours and two sixes. On the other hand, Carlos Brathwaite hammered 21 off 11 balls with three sixes to his name. CSK pulled things back in the final two overs by conceding only 18 runs.
Here is how the Twitterati reacted to the Sunrisers Hyderabad innings:
#IPL 2018 will go down in history as the year when the knuckleball became mainstream.

Yusuf Pathan this IPL:
Against CSK: 114 runs (3 innings)
Against all other oppositions combined: 146 runs (10 innings) #CSKvSRH— Umang Pabari (@UPStatsman) May 27, 2018
Don't think CSK would be too unhappy with the way they finished the innings. This is a fairly achievable total #SRHvCSK #CSKvSRH #IPL2018Final #IPL2018

If you consider purely conditions, I believe this target can be hunted down. But there is the Rashid Khan factor…

CSK will need 179 to win the #IPL2018final. Some big hitting from Yusuf Pathan and Carlos Brathwaite has given Sunrisers Hyderabad a competitive total.
