In their 10th game, the Royal Challengers Bangalore went from bad to worse, they have lost absolute control of the proceedings. Rising Pune Supergiant, on the other hand, had a really professional outing as they did well with the bat, ball and on the field as well.

Virat Kohli won the toss chose to chase; that is their supposed strength. Pune loved the opportunity to bat first on a flat MCA Stadium pitch. Rahul Tripathi once again got off to a good start and scored another 30 plus score, his 6th in consecutive innings. His partner Ajinkya Rahane though fell early skipper Steve Simth at No.3 made up for him.

Smith’s 45, Manoj Tiwary’s 44 and MS Dhoni’s 21 took RPS to 157/3 in 20 overs. Chasing 158 on that flat a wicket wasn’t expected to challenge the RCB unit that has all the fire power in their batting line-up. Travis Head who was brought in place of Chris Gayle to open the innings fell to Jaydev Unadkat in his first over for 2 and thereafter it was a slide.

Skipper Kohli stood his ground and was there bidding good bye to all his batting partners. AB de Villiers scored 3 and hit it straight to Tiwary of the bowling of Washington Sundar, Kedar Jadhav could add just 7 before being run out. Sachin Baby, Stuart Binny, Pawan Negi, Adam Milne, Samuel Badree scored 2,1,3,5 and 2 runs respectively.

All this while Virat was there scoring runs and did get a half century but couldn’t get the team total past the 100-run mark.

The RPS bowlers were economical and picked wickets at regular intervals. Lokie Fergusone who was brought into this game as a replacement for Faf du Plessis to strengthen the bowling had exceptional bowling figures of 4-1-7-2. Imran Tahir was too hot to handle for the RCB batsmen as the leggie picked 3 wickets in his 4 overs and spent just 18 runs.

A huge win for RPS by 61 runs and has strengthened their position at the 4th spot in the points table while RCB are well and out of playoffs contention now.

Here is how Twitter reacted to RCB’s struggle:
