Twitter Reactions: South Africa defeat Bangladesh by 104 runs after AB de blitz

The crowd gathered at Boland Park in Paarl witnessed a spectacular game of cricket. The home team went on to register a fantastic victory of 104 runs. As for the visiting Bangladeshi side, they had to face a storm in the form of AB De Villiers and had little to their armour.

Earlier in the day, it was skipper Mashrafe Mortaza who won the toss as Bangladesh elected to field first. South Africa had AB De Villiers making a comeback as they went in with four pacers and two spinners. As for the Bangladesh team, they went with their three pacers.

Openers Hashim Amla and Quinton De Kock provided a phenomenal start to the Proteas. Both put up a 90 run partnership for the first wicket. Shakib Al Hasan got the first breakthrough as he trapped De Kock LBW. He then got the better of skipper Faf Du Plessis in the same over.

That’s when AB De Villiers came in and the show begin. While we saw some decent batting by Amla on one side, there was ABD taking the bowlers to the cleaners from the other side. Both combined for a 136 runs partnership for the third wicket. While Amla missed out on a century as he got out for 85, ABD went on to register one.

Scoring a magnificent 176 runs from just 104 balls, he hit 15 boundaries and 7 sixes in his marvellous innings. His innings ensured South Africa had a massive total of 353/6 in their quota of 50 overs. Rubel Hossain was the pick amongst the bowlers as he got 4 wickets. Shakib on the other hand got a couple of wickets.

As for the Bangladesh side, a target of 354 was never going to be easy. While their star batsman Tamim Iqbal was dismissed cheaply, skipper Mushfiqur Rahim and Imrul Kayes continued to keep the game alive. However, once Kayes and Shakib were dismissed in quick interval, it was only a matter of time before Bangladesh folded up.

The visitors were bundled for 249 failing to last even 50 overs. Andile Phehlukwayo was the pick amongst the Proteas bowling line up with four wickets to his name. Imran Tahir was also splendid as he got three wickets. Dwaine Pretorius got a couple of wickets while Dane Peterson also managed to get a wicket.

Twitter was quite amazed with the ABD storm they witnessed in motion, after a prolonged phase. Inspite of it coming against a not so strong bowling line up, fans were thrilled to watch ‘SUPERMAN’ in full flow. Here we present to you some of the Twitter reactions during the course of the game.
