The unfortunate demise of Rohit Sharma to a run out saw the Indians at a rather strong position at 143-2. All the 50,000 eyes at the Melbourne Cricket Ground turned towards the entry tunnel. However, it was not Yuvraj Singh who walked out. Instead, Indian skipper MS Dhoni decided to promote himself up the order once again.

The decision to move up the batting order and shield Yuvraj Singh has been met with much angst from Indian and Australian supporters alike. Although Dhoni’s contribution to the Indian cause was deemed worthy, it seems strange why Yuvraj Singh wasn’t given the opportunity to bat up the order.

The 34-year-old Yuvraj Singh required a mere 32 runs to reach a well-deserved milestone. The milestone being 1000 T20 International runs.  Following the demise of MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and not Yuvraj Singh was sent ahead. The decision certainly seems to be extremely strange given Yuvraj’s T20 credentials.

The Indians finished up on a wonderfully compiled 184-3 from their quota of 20 overs. Virat Kohli’s well compiled half century was well complimented by Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, with the latter finally seeming to have found some form with a fighting innings of 42 in quick time.

Should the Indians pull off a victory, the Indian skipper may well be inclined to give the 34-year-old southpaw a chance in the third T20 to be played in the SCG.

Here are some of the tweets to illustrate the point.
