The tension between India and Pakistan has been on a rise ever since infiltrators from Pakistan conducted the Uri attack. As many as 19 soldiers were killed in the attack. This attack infuriated the masses as well as the Indian government to great extent. The government finally decided to take some necessary steps and counterattack these problems.
After bashing the neighbours at the United Nations General Assembly, the Indian Army carried out surgical strikes on Pakistani terrorists stationed across the Line of Control (LOC) on Wednesday night, a step which was appreciated by many in the country.
Director General of Military Operations Lt General Ranbir Singh revealed in a joint press conference with the MEA that Indian forces led by a Special Operations Group led the surgical strikes operation.
A surgical strike is basically an attack carried out on small scale basis to attacks on specific target and inflict maximum damage with less or zero collateral damage. Terrorist launch pads located near the LOC were under the target of the army men. It is said that at least nine such launch pads were destroyed during the attack.
Ranbir Singh was quoted in a report from IndianExpress.com saying, “Significant casualties have been caused to terrorists and those trying to shield them. We don’t have a plan to further conduct such strikes. India has spoken to Pakistan.”
People celebrated this occasion with great happiness in the country and the army men were lauded for their brave effort. Cricketer and other sporting personalities also praised the soldiers and saluted them for their valiant effort.
