The Kolkata Knight Riders management has had a lot of difficult decision going into the tenth season of the Indian Premier League, with the opening combination not being one of them.

The management has decided to shuffle the batting order to accommodate the Australian hard-hitting Chris Lynn to open the innings alongside the Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir. Chris Lynn has performed well in the first two matches he opened for the 2-time IPL winners Knight Riders.

An injury to the hard-hitting Australian batsman during his attempt to catch a delivery near the boundary line made Robin Uthappa’s life much easier. The former Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman would have felt that it was high time that he earned his position back from the Australian.

However, the Knight Riders management decided to make changes which would shock the entire world. Never would have a cricket fan even dreamt of watching the West Indian mystery bowler Sunil Narine open the innings with the bat, and that is precisely what the management decided to do.

The West Indian began the match in a rather poor fashion dropping a sitter in the third over of the innings to the disappointment of New Zealand’s swing bowler Trent Boult. In the same innings, the West Indian misfielded and fumbled an easy take to give away four crucial runs to the opposition.

The mystery bowler’s performance with the ball was a better one compared to him on the field. The commentary box seemed to be shocked with the decision taken by Kallis and co to promote the mystery bowler at the top of the order. Never did anyone expect that the Knight Riders would take the April Fools’ joke to such an extent and it left the Twitterati in splits.

There were few Twitter users who rightly pointed out that it was not the first time that the mystery spinner had opened the batting for any side in this format. The mystery spinner had also opened the batting for the Australian side Melbourne Renegades with scores of 21,12 and 4 in his three innings in the Big Bash.

The mystery spinner did not disappoint the management with his knock. He did not shy away from hitting the loose deliveries out of the park and the others along the ground. The West Indian smacked 37 runs from just 18 deliveries with three sixes and four boundaries under his name before getting dismissed to the Kings XI Punjab’s pacer Varun Aaron.
