It wasn’t the most auspicious of tussles for Pakistan against arch-rivals India as the latter managed to chase down a pretty mediocre total without much strain. The 133 runs scored by Pakistani eves might’ve posed some challenge, but some really good batting by the Indians coupled with unprecedented and unenviable incidents made the contest a one-sided affair.

Despite the repeated warnings from the on-field umpires, the Women in Green failed to correct their running between the wickets and kept running on the pitch. This led to them conceding not one, but two penalties, which summed up to a humongous 10 runs. The second penalty was slapped on the last ball on the innings and although the batters took two runs, that brace was cancelled.

So even before they got the white cherry in hand, they had to deal with a 10-run deficit. As it turned out, India started their innings at 10/0 and chased the total down with an over to spare. If only they had avoided these silly mistakes, the Pakistani women could’ve made a game out of it.

Unprofessional on our part: Pakistan skipper Javeria Khan

Coming out to bat with the massive advantage, the Indian batswoman made absolutely no mistakes. Senior cricketer Mithali Raj chipped in with a fifty and ensured the team got over the line comfortably. But the biggest talking point unfortunately from this marquee encounter is the negative cricket.

Skipper Javeria Khan had nothing in her favour to defend herself or the team, henceforth she obliged to the mistakes and said they have to work on it. She also said that it was unprofessional on their part to repeat such mistakes despite being warned.

“I had a chat with the umpires, they told me that our players were warned thrice and then the runs were docked. It was unprofessional on our part, after being warned, we still trodded (sic) on the danger area. It’s something we need to work on, it hasn’t happened for the first time, it happened previously during the Sri Lanka series as well,” said Khan at the post-match presentation.
