Twitter roasts Ahmed Shehzad after he urges his countrymen to vote

The General Elections in Pakistan took place today. A total of 342 seats were up for grabs and 172 seats are needed for a majority. Three parties- Pakistani Muslim League (PML), headed by Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, led by former Pakistan cricketer Imran Khan and Pakistan’s People’s Party (PPP), headed by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari were the participants.

The parties conducted loads of campaigns surrounding the same in order to emerge victorious. Meanwhile, Ahmed Shehzad, the Pakistani batsman, requested the supporters to vote as it’s a constitutional right in Pakistan. The cricketer is in the middle of a turbulent phase of his cricketing career as he was recently tested positive for the consumption of a banned substance.

Traces of ‘Marijuana’ was found in his urine sample and the test was conducted during this year’s Pakistan Cup in Faisalabad in May. Later it was learned that some influential people were trying to save Shehzad owing to which the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wasn’t taking any actions against the cricketer. Recently, he was provisionally suspended by the PCB after confirmation about the substance.

Shehzad delivers a speech

Shehzad’s last international appearance was inย Pakistan’s recently concluded T20I series against Scotland in Edinburgh. From two matches, the right-hander could only score 38 runs. He has played 13 Tests, 81 ODIs and 57 T20Is for his country in which he has racked 982, 2605, 1454 runs respectively. The Lahore-born cricketer also boasts of ten international centuries.

He also a part of Pakistan’s squad in the 2105 Cricket World Cup in Down Under. The cricketer’s career is well and truly in the doldrums and his future in cricket is under the clouds. In the meantime, the 26-year-old kept a close check on the happenings surrounding the elections. He took to Twitter and posted a video where he was seen delivering an inspirational speech.
