While MS Dhoni remains in the limelight more often than not, the former India skipper rarely makes it to headlines for wrong reasons. However, the star batsman has been attracting attention for all the wrong reasons from the last couple of days for doing something that is least expected from him  – lose his cool. Captain cool lost his calm demeanor when his side Chennai Super Kings squared off against Rajasthan Royals on Thursday.

The incident occurred in the very final over of the game due to confusion over a no-ball. On the fourth delivery when Super Kings needed 8 from the last three balls to get over the line in a tense game, Ben Stokes bowled a high full toss to Mitchell Santner. Umpire Ulhas Gandhe has called it a no-ball only to see his colleague Bruce Oxenford, who was standing at the square-leg, overturn it.

Perplexed and furious with the turn of events, Dhoni stormed onto the field to give the umpires a piece of his mind. The Super Kings skipper was involved in a heated exchange of words with the officials before walking off the field, leaving one and all shocked with his unusual and unexpected behavior. The act drew criticism from various quarters with several former players slamming him for undermining the authority of the game.

Unsurprisingly, the majority was expecting a tough punishment for Dhoni. However, the IPL sprung a big surprise by just docking 50 percent of Dhoni’s match fees, leaving many shell-shocked. On Saturday, former India batsman Virender Sehwag echoed the same sentiments and said that Dhoni should have been given a 2 game ban for storming onto the pitch.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan revealed Sehwag’s statement on Twitter, tweeting, “So @virendersehwag has just said on @cricbuzz that MS Dhoni should have been given a 2 game ban for storming onto the pitch .. I couldn’t agree more .. it’s exactly what should have happened to send a message to all players that what he did was totally unacceptable !! #IPL2019”
