The Indian team is currently playing a three-day practice match against Essex at County Ground in Chelmsford as a part of their preparation for their upcoming Test series against England. The first match will be played at Edgbaston in Birmingham on August 1. The squad for the first three matches was announced earlier and the visiting team would be hoping to keep themselves in good stead.

Virat Kohli’s men have loads of concerns owing to injuries and also lack of form of some of their gun players. Shikhar Dhawan, who participated in both the ODI and T20I series against the Brits, haven’t quite found his form. The left-hander managed only 19 runs in the three T20Is and the gave his wicket away after getting off to starts in all three ODIs in Nottingham, London, and Leeds respectively.

Dhawan’s poor run of form continues

The Delhi-born cricketer would desperately have wished to score some runs in the warm-up match and find his rhythm prior to the Test series. However, that wasn’t the case as he could only face four deliveries in the entire match. Horror of horrors, he was unable to open his account in both innings. In the first instance, fast-bowler Matthew Thomas Coles accounted for his wicket.

Matthew Richard Quinn, the right-arm pacer, got rid of him in his very first over of the second innings. First time around, Shikhar Dhawan inside-edged the leather into the palms of James Foster. On the second instance, Quinn broke his defense and rattled his woodwork.

India lost their first wicket with the score at four in the second over. Dhawan would now be under tremendous pressure to perform in the opening Test. Meanwhile, Twitter isn’t happy with his form and they expressed their concerns, which is completely understandable.

Here is how Twitter reacted to Dhawan’s lacklustre form
