Twitterati turn the battle between Pant and Lungi into a joke

During the Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Daredevils clash, fans on social media discovered quite a funny duel. Other than the run-fest, it saw a contest between Pant and Lungi. For those who didn’t get it, both pant, as well as lungi, are worn as clothing in India. Hence, when Lungi Ngidi came face-to-face with Rishabh Pant, people deemed it as a contest to watch out for.

To the delight of the CSK fans, it was Lungi who won the battle against Pant. Rishabh Pant ended up being the South African pacer’s maiden IPL wicket. With the asking rate mounting, the DD batter had no option but to go all guns blazing. He ended up skying one in the air as Ravindra Jadeja had no difficulty in holding up that one. While Pant scored a fantastic 79 (45), it was Lungi’s spell of 1/26 that mattered in the end.

The following dismissal triggered a new joke format on Twitter and the meme creators were already excited at the prospect of Pant vs Lungi. In no time, tweets comparing them flooded everywhere. Virender Sehwag too joined the unison and the tweets were quite hilarious to say the least.

Put to bat first by the Delhi Daredevils, CSK opener Shane Watson was in a power hitting mode. Hitting seven sixes and four boundaries, he scored 78 (40). Ambati Rayudu who came in at No.4 continued his splendid form with a quickfire 41 (24). However, it was MS Dhoni’s magnificent 51 (22) that guided CSK to 211/4.

As for Delhi, they lost Prithvi Shaw early. Colin Munro looked good for a while but couldn’t prolong his stay at the crease. Rishabh Pant and Vijay Shankar combined for a partnership of 88 runs from 53 balls with both scoring half centuries. However, the target was too big as they fell short by 13 runs.
