Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has put forth his predictions for the match between Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings on Monday, October 4 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Both teams have already qualified for the playoffs and it’s about finishing in the top two for them in their final couple of matches in the round-robin stage of IPL 2021.
The Capitals will be high on confidence after beating the Mumbai Indians by four wickets at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The Super Kings, on the other hand, slumped to a hefty seven-wicket loss at the Rajasthan Royals at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. A victory for either team will confirm their appearance in the Qualifier 1 of the T20 league.
For the upcoming game, Chopra said that two out of the four openers will score a fifty. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw are likely to open the batting for the Capitals and the Super Kings.
Aakash Chopra shares his opinions
“From the four openers, two will score half-centuries,” Chopra was quoted as saying on his official YouTube channel.
The Dubai pitch has helped the bowlers, who can generate a fair amount of pace and bounce. Chopra said that at least two of the batters will get out to short-pitched bowling. “Two batters to be dismissed by bouncers,” he stated.
Chopra said that the left-handers will have a good day in the office as compared to the right-handers. Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, Shimron Hetmyer, Suresh Raina, Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja are the southpaws, who are likely to be on show during the game
“Left-handed batters to have higher strike-rates than right-handed batters,” Chopra, who played for Kolkata Knight Riders during his heydays, quipped.
Last, but not the least, Chopra reckoned that DC are likely to win the upcoming contest. Chopra felt that MS Dhoni and Co. will slump to their second defeat in a row.
“Delhi to win the match,” Chopra added. In their previous meeting, the Capitals won by seven wickets after chasing down 189 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on the back of fifties from Dhawan and Shaw.
