Tymal Mills has been recently going through a rough patch. The England pacer has failed to display his potential in the ongoing Big Bash League. As the Hobart Hurricanes announced their squad for the BBL semi-final against Perth Scorchers, Tymal’s name was nowhere to be found.
While the Sussex bowler is still expected to travel with the team, he is not going to feature in the playing XI. The Hurricanes have instead roped in promising youngster Riley Meredith in the 13 man squad. It would be interesting to see if Riley gets to play the knockout game.
Tymal fails to get any bids rolling in the IPL
The 25-year-old pacer has picked 8 wickets in the ten BBL games he has played so far. He has been going for a lot of runs, conceding at an economy rate of 9.73 runs per over. In Hobart’s last league game against the Melbourne Stars, Tymal had a horrid spell conceding 56 runs in his four-over quota.
The speedster even failed to find takers in the IPL auction. Tymal Mills was the second most expensive player in last year’s auction. He went to the Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whopping ₹12 crores in the previous year. However, he was unsold this time around.
New additions and subtractions from the Hobart Hurricanes and Perth Scorchers squad
Since D’Arcy Short got a national call-up for the T20 internationals against England, he will miss the final phase of BBL. He was the league’s highest run scorer and there’s no doubt the Hurricanes would be weaker in his absence. However, wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Paine is back into the mix after the conclusion of the Test and ODI series.
On the other hand, Perth Scorchers have included both the Marsh brothers in their 13 man squad. Coming off after a wonderful test campaign and an equally dismal ODI series, both would be looking to overshow their mettle in the Big Bash League.
