India carried their domination into the finals of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup as they defeated Australia by eight wickets to win the title for the record 4th time. An all-round performance with the ball helped India to restrict the Aussies to 216 despite a fighting 76 from Jonathan Merlo. Indian opener Manjot Karla made the things easier for India with an unbeaten hundred. He put on fifty-run stands with Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill and Harvik Desai to help India chase down the target with 67 balls to spare.

4 – This is now India’s 4th U19 CWC title with which they went past Australia three titles. Pakistan (2) are the other team to win U19 CWC more than once. India also holds the record for making it to the U19 CWC finals (7) on most occasions.


5 – This was the fifth instance of India facing Australia in a Youth ODI knockout. They faced Australia previously in the 2000 U19 CWC Semis, 2012 Quadrangular Series Final, 2012 U19 CWC Final and 2013 Tri-Series Final and won in all of them.


6 – India bowled out their oppositions in all the six matches in the tournament. They bowled out their opponents in all the six matches they played in the U19 CWC 2006. No other team bowled out their opponents in all matches of a U19 CWC edition. (Min: 6 matches played)


8 – India defeated Australia in their last eight meeting in Youth ODI format. India overcame Australia in 15 of their last 17 meetings in this format.


11 – Prithvi Shaw won in all the 11 matches he captained India in the Youth ODI format. He is only the 2nd captain with 100+ win percentage after leading in more than ten Youth ODI games. Virat Kohli also led India to victory in all the 11 matches he captained.


14 – Wickets Anukul Roy bagged in this U19 CWC edition. These are the joint most wickets by any player in this tournament and also the joint-most by an Indian in a U19 CWC edition. Anukul Roy became the first Indian to top the wicket-takers list in a U19 CWC edition.


18y 86d – At the age of 18 years and 86 days, Prithvi Shaw became the youngest captain to win an Under-19 World Cup. Mitchell Marsh led Australia to victory in the 2010 edition at the age of 18 years and 102 days.


67 – India’s win in this game is the biggest for any team in the U19 CWC final in terms of balls to spare. India defeated Sri Lanka in 2000 edition final by six wickets and 56 balls to spare which was the previous biggest.


101* – Manjot Kalra became the 5th player in the U19 CWC history to score a century in the final. He is the 2nd Indian after Unmukt Chand (111* in 2012) to score a hundred in U19 CWC Final. All the five centuries in the U19 CWC finals came while chasing only.


261 – Prithvi Shaw’s 261 runs in this tournament are the most for an Indian captain in an Under-19 CWC edition. He surpassed Unmukt Chand’s 246-run tally in the 2012 edition.


372  Shubman Gill‘s 372 runs in this tournament are the 2nd most runs for India in a U19 CWC edition behind Shikhar Dhawan’s 505 runs in 2004.
