India U19 squad created history after lifting the World Cup Trophy for the record fifth time at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. India already had the title in its bag in the years 2000, 2008, 2012, and 2018 and Yash Dhull joined the list of prestigious captains this time around. India got the better of England U19 and lifted the trophy when wicketkeeper Dinesh Bana hit a six over long-on region.

As soon as Bana’s six brought ultimate glory for India, it reminded fans of MS Dhoni’s iconic six during the final of the 2011 World Cup against Sri Lanka at Wankhede Stadium. ICC took it to their official Instagram handle to talk about the shot and captioned it as “Where have we seen this ending before?”

ICC talks of comparing Dinesh Bana’s six to MS Dhoni’s iconic 2011 WC final six

Talking of the match, India defeated England by four wickets to extend their record by having won the maximum titles so far. After choosing to bat first, the opposite got wrapped up on 189 runs despite James Rew’s 95 in place. However, from the Indian setup, Raj Bawa’s five-for became something to watch out for as he ended the game while picking five wickets while conceding 31 runs on the night.

It is to be noted that Bana was never the first-choice wicketkeeper to play in the tournament. A conversation between him and his friend Nishan Sindhu was revealed to be Sindhu saying to him, ‘aaj selectors aane waale hai. Bana replied, “Tu bas six count karna aaj mere.” Bana smashed a 98-ball 170, including 10 fours and 14 sixes,” as quoted on Twitter.

The fans who seem thrilled with India’s great success in the U19 tournament felt all the way to compare Bana’s shot with MS Dhoni’s. Dhoni’s iconic six on the finale night will always remain etched in Indian fans’ hearts as, under his guidance, India ended their drought and brought the title home after a gap of 28 years. And, the captain’s knock became something to admire on the night of the finale.
