It was only a few months back that India’s under -19 World Cup-winning skipper Unmukt Chand decided to bid adieu to Indian cricket. He made his move to the USA in order to have a better share of chances. In the latest turn, he led Silicon Valley to a title victory in the Minor League Cricket and continued his sparkling form. Chand has always been known for bringing his A-game to the table in finals and he did the same this time.

Chand scored 59 off 43 balls in the T20 game against Golden State Grizzlies. He and his partner Rahul Jariwala led the foundation of a solid start by adding 102 runs for the opening wickets in just 12.5 overs. Unmukt’s defining knock contained three sixes and six fours. Former Lanka batter Shehan Jayasuriya turned heads with his 30 off 21 pushing his team to put 168 on the board.

While chasing the target, the Grizzlies were off to a dismal start as they stumbled on 49/3 during the first powerplay. They continued losing wickets gradually and finally got bundled up on 135 runs where former Pakistan batter Sami Aslam added 23 runs.

Chand led his team to have a victory by 33 runs. On the back of this title win, the youngster has set up a robust foundation for his career in the USA. He would be hoping to continue plying his trade in the best manner possible in the other leagues of the USA as well. It has to be noted that Chand will be qualified to play for the USA after completing his residency period of three years.

He has signed up a three-year contract with Major League Cricket. Apart from him, his other teammates of the under-19 World Cup like Smit Patel and Harmeet Singh have also left for the USA. Even they would be eligible to play for the USA after their residency period. Chand made a bold decision citing politics as a hindrance in his career in Indian cricket. He felt he was denied all his chances.
