USA to host Ireland for a limited-overs series in December

The United States of America (USA) has announced that it will be hosting Ireland for a limited-overs series in December 2021. This will be the first time that the USA side is hosting a Test-playing side.

Warren Deutrom, who is the chief of Cricket Ireland said that Ireland is delighted to tour the USA as they prepare themselves for the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League against the West Indian side. Deutrom added that the chance to feature in five white-ball matches will be important for the Ireland players to get back on track.

“We are delighted to confirm the tour of the USA as part of our preparations for the crucial ICC Cricket World Cup Super League series against the West Indies. The chance to play five competitive white-ball fixtures – including three matches under lights – will be important as our players return to the field after a few weeks off,” said Deutrom as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Warren Deutrom also added that he hopes that Ireland will get good support in the USA as well. Deutrom also said that the progress of USA Cricket has been praiseworthy in recent times, and this series will be a boost for USA Cricket. Deutrom concluded by thanking USA Cricket for the opportunity provided to the Ireland side to tour USA.

“With a large population of Irish expats and emigrants in the United States, we hope to see a good turnout of support for our squad and look forward to spending time in one of the USA’s best cricket facilities.
