Team Bangladesh are gearing up for their next international assignment. They are set to participate in the Nidahas Trophy which involves India and Sri Lanka as the other two sides. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) recently announced the squad for the series. The squad features Shakib Al Hasan as the captain. However, it is yet to be ascertained is he is fit to play in the series.
The veteran Bangladeshi all-rounder has failed to recover from the injury that he sustained earlier this year. Now, in a big to recover quickly from his injury, Shakib Al Hasan has taken a flight to Thailand. He boarded the flight to Thailand on February 26. He will be in the country to seek advice from orthopedics experts on the injury to his finger.
The BCB recently confirmed the same with an announcement in the media. As per the reports in the Daily Star, BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury quoted that the veteran Bangladeshi cricketer is in Thailand to take second thoughts on his finger injury from the specialists.
“Shakib left for Thailand yesterday night to seek a different opinion. He has appointments with two orthopedic experts in Thailand today. He will return after that and we hope that he will leave with the squad for Sri Lanka,” BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury announced recently.
Team Bangladesh has about a week before they play their first match in the series. Hence, Shakib Al Hasan, in every sense of the phrase, is trying to race against time to get fit and be back with the team. Team Bangladesh is expected to leave for Sri Lanka on March 4.
The players of the squad are scheduled to undergo a training camp on March 2 before the side departs for Sri Lanka. It is yet to be confirmed whether Shakib will directly join the squad in Sri Lanka, or he will be attending the training camps. The all-rounder had suffered the injury during Bangladesh’s loss to Sri Lanka in the final of the tri-series ODI series last month.
