Indian team has been performing exceedingly well in the One-Day International series against the Proteas winning three one-sided affairs from the six to be played. Dominance incandescent hope in the Indian dressing room after their first win on this tour, which came in the third Test and led populous to believe that they can well turn things around in the shorter format.
With two hundred, in three innings skipper Virat Kohli seems to be leading from the front and is raring to clinch their first series victory against South Africa on their home soil. It is interesting to see how Kohli makes a paradigm shift from aggression while fielding to being calm and composed while batting. His hunger to perform at his best for his side and get all-important win has helped people around him grow in stature and perform to the standards set by the skipper himself.
Highest individual score
In the third One-Day International, Kohli achieved yet another milestone of scoring the highest individual score in South Africa by an Indian and just after the legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar who holds the record of the highest individual score against them overall in ODIs. Interestingly, Tendulkar, who was the first in the history of the sport to score double hundred in the limited-overs circuit, scored the same against Proteas at Gwalior in the year 2010.
The 29-year-old who has been compared to his idol time and again, will look to achieve this feat in the coming years. Yesterday he remained not out and scored 160 runs off 159 balls at a strike-rate of 100.66. The knock was laced with 12 boundaries and two mighty sixes.
His innings coupled with a special performance from the wrist spin duo Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal helped India to outclass South Africa by 124 runs. It will be interesting to see if Proteas can bounce back in the ‘Pink ODI’ which is scheduled to take place on 10th February (Saturday).
