Team India eked out a narrow yet historic win in the recently concluded Adelaide Test. This is the first time in the history of the game when the Indian team has won the first Test of a series in Australia. No wonder why the Indian captain Virat Kohli looked chuffed after the stellar effort of his side to win the match. He was all smiles after the game and praised his side.

The Indian team managed to tick all boxes well enough in the game, save the efforts from the lower middle-order. Virat Kohli admitted the same and remarked that the lower middle-order could have done better in the game. He noted that had the lower middle-order contributed, the target would have been even more daunting for the Aussies. For the numbers, team India slumped from 282/5 to 307/10 in the second innings.

“I think our lower middle order and lower order could have done better. We could have added another 30-35 runs more which could have taken the game totally beyond Australia,” Virat Kohli quoted.

‘Gunning for win in every Test’

The Indian captain also cited that if the batsmen step up in every game, the team can do wonders and win every Test that they play. He had special words of praises reserved for Cheteshwar Pujara, who scored 123 and 71 in the two innings of the match, and was rightly adjudged the Man of the Match too. Kohli also praised Ajinkya Rahane for his gutsy 70 in the second innings of the game.

“Shows us that if the batsmen step up regularly, we will be gunning for a win in every Test match. Collectively we were the better team and deserved to win,” remarked the Indian captain.

“Priceless from Pujara, we were down and out at lunch on day 1. His grit and determination brought us back in it. We always knew that runs on the board would make the home side tentative. Any lead was gold and we got 15. In the second innings again, he and Rahane batted well,” he added further.
