Indian test Skipper Virat Kohli offered his condolences to the martyred soldiers in the Uri attack. The incident happened on 18th September when four armed militants attacked the Army camp in North Kashmir’s Uri town during the wee hours, killing 19 soldiers.

The Army camp is located barely few metres away from its Brigade Headquarters in Uri town. The four terrorists who were involved in the attack were gunned were gunned down by the Army personnel after a three-hour long gun battle.

“When these big incidents happen regularly, it feels bad. When we feel bad about it, just think of the families of the soldiers. It’s something very disturbing,” Kohli said when asked to react on the recent terror strike on Indian soil.

“I can react on this but can’t comment on solution because I am not operating at that level. As an Indian, it hurts. I can only pay my condolences to the families of the jawans, who suffered in these incidents,” he said after India crushed New Zealand by 197 runs to take a 1-0 in the three-Test series.

India went 1-0 up in the three-match series after they registered a comprehensive 196 run win over the Black Caps in a well-fought first Test at Kanpur.

Post the match, Kohli analysed the game from his point of view and said that it felt great to see New Zealand compete so well against them and take the game till the final session of the fifth day.

We needed to play at our best to win. Credit goes to New Zealand as well. The reason why this game went to the second session on the fifth day was because of the character they showed.”

He went on to add that he is going through the learning phase as captain and tries to learn as much as possible on the field.

I am still pretty early in my captaincy career, I look for advice from people around me. There have been cases where we’ve gone on one mode and the runs were leaked. One learning that we are taking forward is when wickets aren’t coming, we need to be patient.
