Virat Kohli faces backlash from fans on statement about Cristiano Ronaldo

Being popular has its share of advantages and disadvantages while your voice has an outreach in the masses but sometimes a normal statement can be misinterpreted and thus attract a lot of backlash. Something similar happened to Indian skipper Virat Kohli. During a chat with Star Sports host Jatin Sapru ahead of the Celebrity Clasico, Virat talked about his love for Cristiano Ronaldo.

When he was asked which footballer would he be if he were a FIFA player and said Virat in his head he was Ronaldo. The statement soon featured on social media and a lot of fans failed to understand the real meaning. Considering that he was comparing or equating himself with the football great they trolled the Indian cricketer and subjected him to a lot of criticism.

Virat also said if he was a FIFA player his rating would have been 98 and nothing less as he is a good shooter and he can play equally good with his left and right foot.

“Someone asked me what would be Fifa rating, I said 98. Not below that at all. I am good at shooting, my right foot is good, my left foot is good. As a footballer, I think I am a complete player. In my head I am Ronaldo,” he continued.

A versatile player like him can fit into any place on the field but Virat thinks he is best suited for the left winger with his former captain MS Dhoni as the right winger.

“I feel that best part of my game is sprinting and passing the bowl accurately to the guys who score goals. MS (Dhoni) I think would be right winger because his pretty quick as well or may be he can be centre-forward as well. His positioning is very well and he reads passes very well. Manish (Pandey) is the best footballer in the team. He is playing in the midfield position,” the 28-year-old had stated.
