You simply can’t keep Virat Kohli out of the action for too long. The Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper pulled off a screamer to dismiss Rahul Tripathi.

Put into bat by the home side, the Rising Pune Supergiant looked settled at 63 for no loss. Openers Ajinkya Rahane and Rahul Tripathi were both looking dangerous at the top. However, hat-trick hero Samuel Badree came into castle Rahane with a peach of a delivery.

With Rahane back in the dugout, Tripathi looked to up the ante, as he was well settled on 31 off 23. In came Pawan Negi. An over-pitched delivery invited the drive. Tripathi, however, didn’t know that King Kohli was guarding the covers with his lightning quick hands.

As Ravi Shastri would say it, the ball was traveling ‘like a tracer bullet.’ Nevertheless, the superman from India dived to his left, plucked the ball inches from the ground and celebrated with a sense of nonchalance. It was just another day at the office for Captain Kohli.

It was a scorcher which sent the Chinnaswamy crowd into a frenzy. However, Kohli went on to admit at the post match-interview that it was indeed one of the best catches he had ever taken.

“One of the best catches that I have taken ever. Just reflexes. All the training drills go into that,” 28-year-old Kohli said, who is making a comeback from a shoulder injury.

Virat Kohli’s brilliance in the field was one of the few positives for the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday night. Needing 161 to win, RCB succumbed to the Rising Pune Supergiant pacers. Shardul Thakur and Ben Stokes bagged three wickets each to hand RCB their third defeat in a row.

In spite of Kohli’s return, the fortunes haven’t changed for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. It’s high time the side got back to winning ways before their chances of making the qualifiers fizzle out completely. Their next game against the Gujarat Lions in Rajkot will be much like a must-win.
