Run chases are Virat Kohli’s forte. Fans witnessed his superior chasing run chasing skills once again when India met New Zealand in the first of the five ODI match series at Dharamsala. Kohli scored his 32nd fifty en route to a match-winning knock of 85* to help India chase down a modest target to hand and win the match by 6 wickets.
While Kohli, who has made and broken several batting records, has played much better knocks in his career, this half-century has now taken him closer to one more record held by legendary Sachin Tendulkar.
Virat Kohli now needs 3 fifties to from break the record of Sachin Tendulkar who has scored a total of 34 half centuries while chasing the total. Virat has a tally of 32 half centuries while batting second whereas master blaster has 32. There are high chances that Virat may eclipse Tendulkar’s record in this series as we all know Virat’s ability to finish off the game in ODIs. He never ever leaves the game mid-way relying on other batsmen to finish it.
With a half-century in the last game, Virat has now scored 37 half centuries out of which 32 have come while chasing. He has also scored 25 centuries in 172 ODI’s where Tendulkar ended his career with 49 in 463 ODI’s.

Virat Kohli has been in impeccable form lately and run-scoring seems to be an easy task for him. The way he is batting at the moment surely suggests that it will a matter of just few more DOI he will eclipse Sachin’s this record as well.
India will play the second ODI of the series on October 20 at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.
