Indian captain Virat Kohli is under pressure nowadays, not only because his team squandered the early lead they got against Australia in the ongoing Test series but also because his personal on-field conduct during the second Test in Perth came under stern scrutiny. Kohli’s run-scoring ability has not taken any hit though but it is the overall result in overseas tours which has not helped his track record as the captain. India have now lost seven of the 10 Tests they have played overseas this year while won only three.

However, despite the on-field pressure, the Indian captain did not forget to take out time to celebrate the Christmas Day on Tuesday. He tweeted a photo of himself holding a tray of cakes and cookies on the auspicious occasion and wished the fans Merry Christmas.

His tweet was liked over 15k times and retweeted over 1000 times. One fan even responded to his tweet asking him to send the sweets to him since he, being a fitness freak himself, would not consume them.

Here’s Virat Kohli’s tweet

Kohli shares a close bond with his fans and followers on the social media and finds a lot of supporters even when controversies break out over his words or conduct. His advice to a fan to opt for living outside India for not liking the national players or exchanging words with his Australian counterpart Tim Paine were supported by many who felt the cricketer acted well within his limits. The fact is that Kohli’s consistent performance with the bat has helped him command his fans’ support and admiration amid the controversies.

A win in Melbourne see Kohli inching towards history

The Indian captain will be on his way to creating history if he can guide his team to win the third Test for it will take India closer to their first Test series victory on the Australian soil. However, for that to be true, India will also need to fire as a team, especially with the bat for repeated collective failures has cost the No.1 team matches and series, especially on overseas tours.
