Virender Sehwag believes that Virat Kohli needs to take precautionary measures for body

The last few days haven’t been the most overwhelming for Virat Kohli. He couldn’t take the Royal Challengers Bangalore into the playoffs of the Indian Premier League. Moreover, he injured his neck and has been ruled out of his scheduled stint with Surrey in the English County Championship. He went for a checkup after which the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made the announcement. The Indian skipper will undergo a rehabilitation period of three weeks following which he will go through a fitness test on June 15. Thereafter, a call will be taken on Virat’s participation in the initial phase of India’s tour of England. Meanwhile, Virender Sehwag has expressed his concerns for the Delhi-born cricketer in India TV’s chat show named ‘Cricket Ki Baat’. “He is not young anymore”- Sehwag on Kohli “The injury can be really serious but the medical experts have to check how severe the impact is on Kohli’s body. However, if it’s a neck injury, it can be recovered on time,” Viru remarked. The retired cricketer also urged the 29-year old to reassess his fitness regime bearing in mind the fact that he has passed his youth. But Kohli needs to take care of his body as he is not young anymore and is around 29-30. He needs to reassess his workout regime and take precautionary measures which is very important to recover well from the injury,” Sehwag said. “It will not be a great news for Indian team if Virat Kohli’s injury is a serious one keeping the upcoming England tour in mind. If he misses the England tour, it will be difficult for Team India to register a series win against hosts,” the former cricketer added. India will begin their campaign against England with a T20I series, which gets underway on July. The three-match affair will be followed by three ODIs. The limited-overs fixtures will be followed by five Tests, the first of which will be played in Birmingham from August 1.
