Former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag has urged the people of the nation to go ahead and be patient on the demonetization scheme implemented by the Indian government in the last week. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India had canceled the tenders on the Rs. 500 and the Rs. 1000 Rupee notes in a wild bid to throw out black money from the country.

The initial reaction of the people was that they lauded the Prime Minister on his approach. There was jubilation among most of the middle-class citizens and more than that, there were a ton of blog posts all over the web painting Modi as the messiah. However, there was an inevitable chaos when the banks opened up to retake the old notes.

This was perhaps one of the few times when the Indian Prime Minister, in his incumbency, has received flak as much as this. Moreover, the fact of the matter saw a few even take to popular social media handles to lash out at the Prime Minister for such a sweeping change, something that has seen them lose tons of money in the process.

However, Virender Sehwag took the side of the Indian PM with a subtle message stating that change isn’t something that happens overnight. Sehwag also took the example of Lance Naik who was trapped under the snow at the Siachen Glacier following an avalanche wherein he was trapped for 6 days before being rescued.

Sehwag’s tweet read: “Shaheed Hanumanthappa waited for 6days, 35 ft under snow, in -45°C, in hope of being rescued. Surely, we can wait for few hrs in line to rescue Our Nation.”
