Following his retirement from cricket, one of India’s most prolific opening batsmen Virender Sehwag has become a social media personality. He’s had his banters with prominent figures on Twitter, and his witty verbal jousting has amused one and all.

Sehwag’s latest victim was former India pacer Zaheer Khan, who recently got engaged to Sagarika Ghatge, better known as ‘Preeti Sabarwal’ from Shah Rukh Khan starer blockbuster Chak de! India. Ghatge, who played the role of a national level hockey player, finds herself engaged to a cricketer, just as she did in the movie.

Zaheer, who is currently leading Delhi Daredevils in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League, shared a picture on social media to break the special news. The picture has Sagarika Ghatge, gladly showing her ring off to the camera.

Zaheer’s message along with the picture read, “Never laugh at your wife’s choices. You are one of them !!! Partners for Life #engaged Sagarika Ghatge”

Sagarika Ghatge then followed suit as soon as Zaheer made the public announcement. The actress wrote, “Partners for Life!!!”.

Virender Sehwag pounced on the opportunity to share a laugh with the engaged couple by poking fun at one of Ghatge’s movie dialogues from Chak de India. In his tweet, Sehwag wrote, “Congratulations @ImZaheer, clean bowled by Hockey, @sagarikavghatge please Hockey nahi dena rakhke. Wish you both a great life together :)”

Sehwag referred to the popular line from the movie Chak de! India which also happens to be part of a song called “Ek Hockey Doongi Rakh Ke”.

Viru has created a niche for himself on Twitter with his hilarious tweets. Whether it be wishing cricketers and celebrities on birthdays, or describing an ongoing cricket match, Sehwag drapes his tweets with clever puns and wordplay.

As for Zaheer Khan and Sagarika Ghatge, our best wishes from CricTracker for a wonderful life ahead in each other’s company.
