Indian cricketing legends, Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag were guests on the famous quiz show, Kaun Banega Crorepati, hosted by iconic Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan. And, during the course of the show, both these legends opened up on a variety of topics related to Indian cricket.

Virender Sehwag revealed a secret about Sourav Ganguly as well during the show. Sehwag stated that Ganguly had the habit of asking his teammates to pack his kit bag before he went for the post-match press conference. However, the current Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President denied the same, and asked Bachchan to contact the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Ashish Nehra, Zaheer Khan or Harbhajan Singh regarding the matter.

Sehwag also heaped praise on Ganguly, and stated that the ‘Prince of Calcutta’ is the best captain that he has played under. Sehwag also added that it was Ganguly who played a key role in India winning matches away from home. “I have played under many captains but no one was better than Ganguly,” said Virender Sehwag during the show.

Sourav Ganguly was the WHO of the Indian team: Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag also pulled Sourav Ganguly’s leg during the show as well, and labelled the former Indian captain as the WHO of the Indian cricket team, and stated that whatever Ganguly said would happen. “Sourav Ganguly was like the WHO of our team. Whatever he used to say, would happen,” said the Nawab of Najafgarh.

Ganguly also chided with Sehwag, and stated that the right-handed batting legend would never listen to him, and also quoted an incident from the Natwest Trophy Final in the year 2002 as an example.

“Even after my refusal in the final of the NatWest Trophy, he kept hitting the bowler for fours. He just allowed one ball to pass, maybe he felt pity for me,” said Sourav Ganguly.

Both Ganguly and Sehwag were the mainstays of the Indian cricket team during their playing days. While Ganguly scored a total of 18433 runs in his international career for India, Sehwag plundered 16892 runs. Between them, Ganguly and Sehwag have scored 76 international hundreds as well.
