Former Indian Cricketer and Director of Cricketing Operations of Kings XI Punjab, Virender Sehwag recently slammed his long-time friend and opening partner Gautam Gambhir yesterday after Gambhir’s comment on Ishant Sharma’s high base price.

The captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders, whose current salary is around 12 crore every year, commented that no franchise would look to purchase a player for a whopping sum of Rs. 2 crores for bowling twice a dozen balls in a match.

The southpaw commented, “Nobody will pay Rs 2 crore for 4 overs. I am surprised to see Ishant’s base price.”

Virender Sehwag, who carries a no non-sense attitude, is renowned for his bold statements and trolling his fellow colleagues on Twitter these days. On the occasion of Kings XI Punjab’s jersey launch yesterday, Virender Sehwag announced that the lanky Indian Test International Ishant Sharma is set to join Preity Zinta’s franchise to represent the Punjab team.

The event was carried out via the Facebook live feature on Kings XI Punjab’s facebook page. Without much delay, one of the journalists present in the audience pounced on the opportunity to ask the Sultan of Multan about his thoughts on Gambhir’s comment on Ishant Sharma’s high base price. Sehwag replied vociferously with no room for diplomacy that no batsman deserves 12 crores for playing ten overs.

The Nawab of Najafgarh replied, “Tell me one thing, who pays your Rs 12 crore for playing 60 balls then?”

Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag have remained one of the best opening pairs the country has ever produced. They hold the record for scoring the most number of runs for the country in Tests only after Chauhan and Gavaskar, The dashing duo has represented several teams together such as Delhi Daredevils, Delhi Ranji team, and ONGC. They have remained good friends for a long time now.

But the cracks between their friendship appeared after Gambhir criticised all the trollers and haters of Gurmehar Kaur, who initiated a peace campaign between India and Pakistan. Sehwag also trolled Kaur by posting a picture on a social media site. Gambhir voiced his opinion on the matter by slamming everyone including Sehwag, who made a mockery out of the teenager.

It will be interesting to see the two giants of Indian Cricket clash when the Knight Riders take on the Kings XI on April 13 at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
