Former Indian opener turned commentator, Virender Sehwag who is super active on social media following his retirement wished English batsman Kevin Pietersen on his 36th birthday on Twitter.

Born to a South African father and English mother, KP played international cricket for England. He made his debut for England in 2004 against Zimbabwe and the aggressive batsman was quick to make a mark in the international arena. He was a key player for England in their only World Cup triumph in the World T20 2010.

He went through a tough patch in his career after allegations were made that he sent defamatory text messages to team members of the South African dressing room, with Andrew Strauss and Andy Flower referred within the messages. He was dropped from the series but played for England in their 2-1 Test series win against India in 2012 and also featured in the Ashes 2013-14.

But eventually, he was dropped from the side due to ‘unanimous decision’ taken by the board and players. Pietersen continues to feature in different T20 leagues around the globe. Sehwag, who had also played alongside him for the IPL franchise, Delhi Daredevils praised his hitting capabilities through his tweet.

Sehwag wrote – “A very happy birthday @KP24. When we used to play for Delhi, I always thought, This KP will send the ball to CP”

“KP will send the ball to CP” refers for Kevin Pietersen will send the ball to Connaught Place in New Delhi.
