Former Indian International Virender Sehwag has chipped in with a wonderful message for India’s Women’s brigade ahead of the mega final on Sunday. The Indians will lock horns with hosts England in the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup final after beating the Australians in the semis.

Virender Sehwag, a player who has served the nation by providing trailblazing knocks during his playing days, wasted no time in sending across his wishes. The Nawab of Najafgarh took to Social media platform Twitter to upload a small video message for the women in blue.

In the video, Sehwag mentioned that he was left speechless by the way Mithali Raj and her women performed against the Aussies. He also pointed out that the women’s team did what the men team failed to do when they met the Aussies in the semi finals of the 2015 ICC World Cup. Sehwag then went on to wish the team luck before the big game and hoped for them to bag the title.

Background:

India defeated the Australians riding on a swashbuckling knock from Indian batsman Harmanpreet Kaur. Harmanpreet manhandled the Aussie bowling attack with ease as India registered a total of 281 runs in 42 overs. In an inning of a lifetime, Harmanpreet remained unbeaten until the end with a score of 171 runs from just 115 deliveries. Coming onto chase the target the Australians gave a tough fight but fell 36 runs short of their target. Top scorer Alex Blackwell gifted her jersey to Harmanpreet for her extraordinary inning at the Derby ground.

Virender Sehwag had quickly congratulated the batsman for her magnificent display with the willow by posting an image of her on Twitter and pairing it with an appropriate caption. Harmanpreet replied to the Delhi-born star by calling Sehwag her idol.

Not only Virender Sehwag, but the whole nation would like to see a similar inning from Harmanpreet in the final at Lords on Sunday against the Three Lions.
