The South African middle-order batsman and Kings XI Punjab’s former captain David Miller has thanked the former Indian opener Virender Sehwag for his tremendous support during the previous season of the Indian Premier League.

Virender Sehwag, who is also the mentor of the team has helped and encouraged the South African destructive batsman David Miller to help him improve his form. Miller has regained his lost touch from the last year’s tournament with decent knocks whenever his chance arrives.

Miller spoke to the reporters on Wednesday ahead of the side’s encounter with the Kolkata Knight Riders at The Eden Gardens after completing his batting sessions at the nets and said, “I lost my aggressive style in the last season. Neither was I able to perform in the IPL nor was I delivering for my country.

“But much before this IPL season, I came to New Delhi for some valuable advises from our IPL team mentor, Virender Sehwag.

He further explained that the former Indian batsman Sehwag told him his own story where the latter had to depend on his natural instinct while he was batting in the middle of the park.

“Sehwag advised me not to care much about technique as he did not. Rather his advice for me was to try to hit whenever getting a loose ball.

It has helped the left-hander to improve his form drastically and has also helped the South African in gaining his confidence back. His performance has drastically improved in the recent times both domestically as well as in the International arena.

He further complimented the “X-factor” Glenn Maxwell present in the Kings XI Punjab side comparing him with the dangerous Chris Lynn, who earlier helped his side ease to a ten-wicket win over the Gujarat Lions in their first encounter.

At the same time, the South African praised the opposition (KKR’s) bowling. He added, “KKR has a strong bowling side both in spin and pace. Still, I am optimistic due to one positive reason. That is greenness of the pitch.”
