Preview:

Surrey and Essex, the teams in the bottom four of the South Group, will face off in the match at The Oval. Essex has got smallest of chance for qualifying to the quarter-finals as four of their matches ended without a result. They have 11 points from 12 matches but only six points came via three wins. They need to win their two games and also hope any three teams in contention to lose their remaining fixtures.

Surrey, on the other hand, is in a similar position. However, they earned 12 points from 13 matches thanks to five wins. They would need the loser of Kent-Gloucestershire match to lose one more match and Middlesex beat Somerset on Friday. Middlesex losing to Hampshire on Thursday is also works for the London based team. The form of Sam Curran and Aaron Finch will play a crucial role in their last league match.

Weather Report:

The Oval is expected to be dry on Thursday with clear skies during the day. Some spells of rain are expected in the night which could be after completion of the match. The weather forecast doesn’t predict any rain during the match timings.

Pitch Condition/Report:

Surrey recorded first chase at The Oval in the T20 Blast 2019 in the match that were not affected by rain. The three matches finished without any reduction of overs before the Surrey-Somerset match witnessed the batting first side winning all three. The target of 158 did look tricky on Tuesday but Aaron Finch’s brilliance made it easy. Teams winning the toss would still look to bat first and post 180+.

Average first innings score: 168 (Unaffected T20 Blast matches in 2019)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 1, Lost – 3
