Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir celebrates his birthday today.  The southpaw, who bagged the man of the match award in both the 2007 World T20I final and the 2011 World Cup final, turned 36 today. Fans and followers from across the globe wished him on this auspicious day. Gambhir has numerous die-hard fans and celebrations are still going strong.

Interestingly, this time around, it was former Indian player VVS Laxman who did a ‘Viru’. Virender Sehwag, who is well-known for wishing his friends and cricketers on special days with witty tweets, took a backseat and enjoyed Laxman’s power-play.

Laxman wished Gambhir in his birthday and along with the wishes, he posted a picture where Sehwag and Gambhir can be seen in one frame, wearing the Indian Test jersey. In the picture, Sehwag can be seen whispering a word into Gambhir’s ears. Laxman didn’t miss out on that and wrote ”Wonder what Viru was whispering in Gauti’s ears. Any guesses ?”

Apart from Laxman, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, BCCI, ICC and KKR CEO Venky Mysore also wished the cricketer on his birthday. Gambhir recently said in an interview that he shares a very good bond with Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh. “I spent a lot of time with Viru (Virender Sehwag). Obviously, Ishant (Sharma) is a very good friend. Munaf (Patel) is a good friend. I grew up with Amit Mishra and we practiced a lot. I also spent a lot of time with Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh) when we played together. I share a great relationship with all these guys and we have seen highs and lows together,” Gambhir said.

“I think some of our great cricketing moments have been together, especially winning the 2007 WT20 and 2011 World Cup. And also some of the lowest moments like getting whitewashed in England. It has always been great fun because I am sure once all us retire, these memories will stay with us for the rest of our lives,” he added.
