Want to know the reason behind Chandika Hathurusingha's resignation: Hassan

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan said that the board is no longer waiting for coach Chandika Hathurusingha’s return to Bangladesh folds. He also said that there is high possibility of BCB director and current Dhaka Dynamite coach Khaled Mahmud stepping in for the time being, at least for the series against Sri Lank

There were reports of the coach sending his resignation letter midway into the South Africa series. The Tigers ended the tour without a win and they were thrashed during the Test series. The board had earlier said that they will try to convince the coach to stay until his contracted period of 2019 world cup.

Hasan wasn’t at his typical soft-spoken best, he seemed disappointed with the way the whole episode panned out. “We are not waiting for Hathurusingha; we are waiting for his report,” said Hassan during the action-packed BPL matches at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. “He said he will submit it within two or three weeks. We have to know whether he is leaving because of personal reasons or whether it is because of us. If it is personal, then there is no problem. There is no problem even if it is something to do with us, but we should know about it.

There were reports about him joining the Lankan set up, but nothing has been officially declared yet. “As I said before, if someone does not want to stay, we do not want to force him to stay. But we need to know some things from him; as a professional coach, we need his report on the whole series and the reason for his resignation. Now if he thinks that without any particular reason he has decided to become the coach of Sri Lanka, that is a different issue.” he added. The board has said that if they fail to rope in a foreign coach, then Khaled Mahmud Shujon will take charge of the immediate tours.
