Bangladesh fast bowler, Rubel Hossain is confident of doing extremely well with the ball on their tour to South Africa. South Africa is set to host Bangladesh in a 2-match Test series which will be followed by the limited-overs leg as well. The confidence of the Tigers is on a high after they drew the hard-fought series against Australia at home.

Rubel Hossain was not a part of the eleven that featured against the Aussies at home as the conditions were more suited for spin. But South African weather is always known to favour pacers and he will play a crucial role during the series. Bangladesh has progressed well recently in the longest format under the leadership of Mushfiqur Rahim and is expected to give a tough fight to the Proteas.

I will give my 100% on the tour

The Bangladeshi bowler hailed the Proteas batsmen who are in the top 10 in the world and expressed that he would he love to dismiss Hashim Amla. “There are four to five batsmen in South African team who are in the top 10 of the world ranking. Every wicket of them is very important for us to take. But I will feel better if I can take the wicket of Hashim Amla,” he said.

Rubel was excited and looking forward to the challenges on the tour of South Africa. He remained positive despite the place in the playing eleven is not guaranteed for him. “Fair competition is always very good and appreciated. It impacts on the team’s performance. I think the competition in the team is very good. Every pace bowler will seek to perform because they know they have to perform to remain in the team. Such challenge is better for the bowlers. I think every pacer will enjoy such challenge also,” he told bdcrictime.

The fast bowler was also confident of doing well if given the opportunity to bowl. He also mentioned that he will provide crucial breakthroughs to the team and will give his 100%.

“If I get chance to bowl, I will try to perform well and give breakthrough to the team. I’m ready to fight for the team. When captain will tell me to bowl I’ll give my 100%. If I am fit and sound I could perform better. As I am touring South Africa I’ve enormous self-confidence that I could fare well in this tour,” he continued.

The 27-year-old is aware of the conditions being offered in South Africa and said that the tour will be really challenging one for the team. “The tour to South Africa will be really challenging. The challenge is not only for me but for the team also. We all know that the wickets in South Africa are pace-friendly. We’ve set our mindset in that fashion. Along with that, we’ve taken our preparation how we have to bowl and bat on those bouncy and pace-supporting decks,” he explained.

He also hoped that the team plays a better brand of cricket as their track record is not so good outside the subcontinent. “We haven’t set any targets of winning against South Africa. We have to play better brand of cricket. I think the tour will be better, the Test series will be exciting,” the youngster signed off.
