Not too long ago, former Pakistan pacer Waqar Younis was a major part of the Pakistan cricket team. As their coach, he had led them to a rare whitewash against the Australians in the United Arab Emirates, their adopted home and was looking to continue his stint as coach.
However, what followed a terrible time with the team in the World T20 in India in the summer of 2016 saw the bowling legend become one of the severed heads of the Pakistan cricket board who then went on to replace him with South African Mickey Arthur and with impressive results as well.
However, at the moment, it seems as though Arthur has been rather unsuccessful in recent times with the side having been thrashed out of sight by the Australians courtesy of a bevy of poor performances. Waqar went on to bemoan the performances including a catch dropped by Younis Khan from the bowling of Yasir Shah.
Waqar went on to lash out at the 39-year old who seemingly has the safest pair of hands in the Pakistan side. “That was the easiest of the lot. Can’t catch, can’t field,” bemoaned Waqar in commentary for the Nine Network
He also went on to add that the bowlers were getting increasingly demoralized as there is nothing for them on the track anymore. “(The bowlers) get demoralized. It’s very difficult to pick yourself up to bowl again. It’s a tough wicket to bowl on and you create an opportunity or a chance, then someone put it down.”
Even Aussie legend Shane Warne offered his sympathies to Yasir Shah. “This is just disheartening for the bowler. Yasir Shah’s gone for 140 again and 40 of them could’ve been stopped. You’ve got to feel for the Pakistan bowlers, you can’t miss that,” he said.
