Waqar Younis showers praise on the India U19 after their World Cup win

The India U19 side had a tournament to remember. They entered the semi-finals unbeaten and then thumped ‘arch-rivals’ Pakistan to get an inch closer to victory as they sealed their final spot against Australia. They remained unbeaten and won the title by 8 wickets after a match-winning century from Manjot Kalra.

Riding on the back of five consecutive clinical victories, the team had a different match-winner each time. Every player made sure that he contributed and ensured that India remained the dominant side in the tournament for a while. From Prithvi Shaw to Shubman Gill, from Kamlesh Nagarkoti to Shivam Mavi and from Anukul Roy to Abhishek Sharma, each player in the side stepped up when the team needed it.

It is safe to say the team was so good in the tournament that they were hardly challenged, as indicated by their margins of victory. Coached by Rahul Dravid and led by Prithvi Shaw, the side was calm and composed each time they took the field and errors were rare.

Several cricketers and celebrities took it to Twitter to shower praise on the coach and the side for ending the tournament on a high. Their consistency, confidence and impactful performances earned the admiration of all. They also made sure that they acknowledged that this side was deservingly the winner.

Among them was former Pakistan speedster, Waqar Younis who showered praise on the side. It is not surprising because Indian bowlers who displayed an exhibition of fast bowling by consistently clocking 140+kph in several matches. Moreover, he was appreciated by fans for congratulating India but was also asked to put in a word with the Pakistan Cricket Board to prepare the Pakistan U19 side like the BCCI prepared India.
