'Was trying to emulate Yuvraj Singh' - Ryan Burl on his 34-run over against Bangladesh

Zimbabwe cricket team has enjoyed a great deal of success over the last few weeks across formats with series wins over Bangladesh and also securing a berth in the 2022 T20 World Cup. They won by 2-1 in both ODIs and T20Is, and it was batter Ryan Burl in the deciding T20I, who guided the hosts to a famous series win. Burl smashed five sixes and a four in the 15th over of the third T20I of Nasum Ahmed’s bowling and equalled the record for second-highest runs scored in the format. Burl recently revealed that former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is one of the cricketers he looked up to in his growing years, and also added that he had flashes of the Indian all-rounder hitting Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over as he was trying to do that himself facing Nasum. “When I tried to hit the left-arm spinner for 36 in an over, a little bit of flash came when Yuvraj hit Broad for six sixes. I was kind of trying to emulate in that way; he’s obviously a legend,” Burl was quoted as saying in Zee News. He finished with 54 runs off 28 balls in the game, which Zimbabwe eventually won by 10 runs. Would like to try and win the series against India: Burl Apart from Yuvraj, the Zimbabwe batter said that some of the other Indian cricketers he looked up to are Sachin Tendulkar and Harbhajan Singh among others. Speaking about the upcoming three-match ODI series against India, starting on August 18, he said that the team would look to win the series. He added that it is not going to be easy as India are one of the best sides in the world. But he hopes that they can use the home conditions to their advantage. “We would like to try and win the series. But it’s India and one of the best teams in the world. They are not going to put up an easy fight; it’s going to be difficult. Hopefully, with our home ground advantage, we can try and pull out a cat out of the hat and put out something special,” expressed the 28-year-old.
