A former legendary fast-bowling pair of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis was involved in an unpleasant exchange of words on the microblogging site Twitter. Both made some filthy comments against each other and it came as a surprise to most people as the duo shared a wonderful rapport during their playing days.

Arguably the greatest left-arm pacer of all time, Wasim Akram was there in the middle when Anil Kumble was on the verge of picking all 10 wickets during the historic Test in Delhi way back in 1999.

Sharing his experience during the dying moments of the historic match, Akram said that Waqar had walked up to him and came up with an idea of getting run out in order to deny Anil Kumble the rarest of the rare feat. “Kumble had got nine wickets and I and Waqar were batting in the crease. Waqar came to me and said that “How about getting run out..? so that Kumble does not get his 10th wicket”, Akram recalled.

Apparently, Wasim replied by saying if he was destined to achieve the feat he will. “You can’t deny him the feat if he is destined for it. But I can assure you that I am not going to give my wicket to Kumble but subsequently it was me who gifted my wicket to Kumble”, added Akram.

The words from Akram didn’t go down well with Waqar as he took to his twitter handle and wrote that nothing of this sort happened and perhaps age is catching up with Wasim. “This never happened, I think age is catching up Wasim Bhai” and then included a hashtag with NOT TRUE,” Waqar tweeted.

Wasim was quick to shot back at him and asked Waqar to get his facts right. “@waqyounis99 Get your facts right mate. And if we are going to go down the “age” road you know I’ll Beat you in that game every time.” The conversation finally relented after Waqar deleted the tweet.
