England and India are up against each other in the first Test of the four-match series at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This is a crucial series for both the cricket teams as it will decide the second finalist who will lock horns against New Zealand in the final of the inaugural edition of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) at Lord’s in June 2021.

Before the commencement of the marquee Test in Chennai, former Indian cricketer and IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) batting coach Wasim Jaffer, who is known for his humour and wittiness, was at his savage best as he brutally trolled the Australian Test captain Tim Paine. India had recently scripted history in Australia by retaining the prestigious Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia by 2-1.

Jaffer shared a meme on his official Twitter handle where Tim Paine and England’s Test skipper Joe Root can be seen having a conversation. Later, Paine humorously tells Steve Smith, “I told him when things get tough in India say, ‘Can’t wait to get you to Lord’s'”

India to travel to England for a five-match Test series in August 2021

In the four-match Border Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia, the visiting nation had produced a stunning show in the second Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground after facing an embarrassing defeat in the first Test at Adelaide Oval. Australia had almost won the third Test at Sydney Cricket Ground but Hanuma Vihari and Ravi Ashwin had showed their grit and determination to help India save the game.

Frustrated with the resilience shown by the two batsmen, Paine who was donning the gloves had told Ashwin that he can’t wait to see India in the fourth Test at The Gabba in Brisbane. Australia had excellent record of winning in The Gabba. However, India managed to breach the Gabba Fortress in the last Test to seal the series. This has resulted in many people mocking the Australian Test captain for challenging India to perform at the Gabba.

Interestingly, India is scheduled to travel to England for a five-match Test series that will run from August 4, 2021 to September 14, 2021.
