The social media quips between former cricketers Michael Vaughan and Wasim Jaffer took the center stage on the internet yet again. After four days of play in the ongoing rescheduled fifth Test match between England and India at Edgbaston, Birmingham, it is safe to say that the home team has an edge over India to win the match, going into Day 5. And Vaughan took a cheeky dig at the former Indian batter as the match was going England’s way.

The former England captain asked Jaffer if he was nervous. And the former Indian opener replied with a short video clip from popular sitcom ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’. The duo are known to have a dig at each other on social media and yet again they were engaged in social media banter as their former teams face off on the field.

England are on the front foot, going into the final day

India were put in to bat first after Ben Stokes won the toss, and the visitors responded strongly, amassing a total of 416 with the help of tons from Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja. Skipper Jasprit Bumrah’s late cameo of unbeaten 31 off 16 balls stole the show as he broke the record of scoring most runs in a single over in Test cricket.

England batters, barring in-form Jonny Bairstow, who scored a century, failed to make big contributions, courtesy of top-class bowling from the Indian pacers Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami. England were bowled out for 284 and India took a healthy lead of 132. Much was expected out of India in the second innings after taking a big lead, but they managed to only put up only 245 in their second innings. Opener Cheteshwar Pujara contributed with 66 runs, and Pant was instrumental again with 57 runs.

England, still having to chase a big target of 378, took on the Indian bowlers, and swung the momentum in their favour. Openers, Alex Lees and Zak Crawley, scored 56 runs off 65 balls and scored 46 off 76 balls, respectively, putting up 107 runs for the first wicket. India made a bit of recovery, picking up three wickets in the span of 15 balls. But Root and Bairstow once again took it away from India as they put up another 150 runs for the fourth wicket in less than 33 overs.
