Wasim Jaffer picks his all-time 'Elegant and Graceful' XI, Shane Warne named skipper

The game of cricket has showcased some of the most elegant batters, who can make fans fall in love with it. Several names in modern-day cricket, including Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, and Babar Azam among others, are likely to be present in the fans’ minds.

Similarly, former Indian batter and domestic circuit veteran Wasim Jaffer has picked his all-time ‘Elegant and Graceful’ XI. The right-handed batter, in his conversation with Sky247 Presents ‘Not Just Cricket’ on CricTracker, has chosen some of the biggest legends of the game.

In the opening department, Jaffer has named Barry Richards and Australian legend Mark Waugh. South African batter Richards played four Test matches, in which he scored at an average of 72.57. The other opener Mark Waugh played more than 370 matches for the Aussies.

The next two names on the list include Sir Viv Richards and Indian veteran Yuvraj Singh. Hailing from Antigua, Richards maintained an average of 50 in the Test format and scored 6721 runs in 187 ODIs for the West Indies. Similarly, Yuvraj Singh, who is known for his variety of shots, also finds himself on the list.

Australian batter Greg Chappell and veteran Sir Garry Sobers have also been named by Jaffer. While Chappell amassed more than 9,500 runs for his country in both formats combined, Sir Garry Sobers represented the West Indies in 93 Test matches, in which he scored 8032 runs. Jaffer has picked former Australian batter, Adam Gilchrist, as his wicketkeeper for the team.

In the bowling department, the former Indian batter has named some of the most dangerous bowlers, including former Pakistan World Cup-winning captain Imran Khan (544 wickets), Australian spin wizard and skipper of the side, Shane Warne (1001 wickets), express left-arm pacer Wasim Akram (916 wickets) and one of the most feared West Indies pacer Malcolm Marshall (533 wickets). The former Indian cricketer has opted for Pakistani spinner Saqlain Mushtaq as his team’s 12th man. The 45-year-old has grabbed a total of 496 wickets in his international career.
