Shimron Hetmyer is one of the star international players to have played in the Indian Premier League. After making an impact with the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals, he is representing Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing IPL 2022. Prior to joining RR, Hetmyer was a part of DC during the 2020 and 2021 editions.

Meanwhile, former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif, who has served as the Delhi Capitals’ assistant coach, feels that Hetmyer does not care much about the criticism he receives, which is a quality that brings the best out of him. Kaif also said that the West Indies player is a happy-go-lucky person and is always relaxed.

Shimron Hetmyer is a brilliant player of spin: Mohammad Kaif

“Hetmyer is happy-go-lucky and is quite relaxed. Most batters plan against opposition bowlers, but Hetmyer just doesn’t care. He just says ‘that is waste of time, let me eat my burger and pizza.’ Once I had told him whether he knows how to play mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy. He said Varun who? But in the game, he played really well”, Kaif told Sportskeeda.

“I know Hetmyer personally and he is a brilliant player of spin and knows how to hit sixes against spin. Rashid is a good bowler but his record hasn’t been great against left-handers and he can leak runs. He is likely to bowl googlies to Hetmyer, but he is in good form and won the last game for Rajasthan. It will be a battle worth watching, one has form while the other has class,” he added.

Coming back to IPL 2022, Heymyer has been RR’s backbone so far. He has made a tremendous impact in the middle-order with his power-hitting abilities, having amassed 168 runs in four matches at an average of 84 and an outstanding strike rate of 178.72. He scored a quickfire unbeaten 59 off 36 against the Lucknow Super Giants, which turned out to be a match-winning innings.

The Caribbean sensation would once again be expected to come out all guns blazing when the Royals take on the Gujarat Titans at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on April 14.
